PENA LA CRESTA
This is a fantastic local rural restaurant - that still has the real Spain feel
about it. Saturday Nights there is live music and a great party atmosphere. On
Sundays they have live music in the afternoon. Food is traditionally Spanish
with Paella every Saturday & Sunday. Good indoor and outdoor restaurant, very
reasonably priced. Large selection of tapas – all at €1.50 each and main meals
Steak, kebabs etc €10.00 Drinks are very reasonable. This is a good local
restaurant and easily walked. Ample parking for cars, horses etc.
Directions: Turn left outside main gates, drive slowly as the entrance is via
the river bed on the right hand side just 100 meters. There is a green sign, be
careful the track over the river bed is fine, but choose where you turn right as
there are a couple of high pot holes as you leave the road. Follow track across
the river, you will see the flags of the restaurant and the entrance is 1st on
the left. |

LAS VIANDAS - FUENGIROLA – CLOSE TO BULL RING * *
* *
We would like to thank Christine and David Binnie
for introducing us to this lovely friendly
restaurant which has a very large menu
and surprisingly all very good. The food is
excellent and so is the price three courses for just
12 euros, or 15 euros. There is also a good A La
Carte Menu to chose from,. The restaurant has a
lovely atmosphere and the staff are very attentive
and friendly.
This restaurant is well established with the locals
and therefore is always busy at weekends so it
would be advisable to book if you are a large group.
One of our favourites.
Directions:- Head for the Myramar shopping centre. At
the roundabout, turn left under the Main A7 and you
will pass a KIA/Suzuki agent on the left hand side.
Continue past the garage to the next roundabout.
Turn left and you will approach another roundabout
where you need to also turn left. The restaurant
will then be on your right as you enter this road.

VENTA LA MORENA’S * * * *
This is a very popular local Spanish restaurant, and is well
known for its speciality BBQ of Meat, for which they are famous. All portions in Moreno’s
are huge (Desperate Dan Portions) so if you have
children one meal with an additional plate will be
ample. Everything comes with chips, baked tomato and alli olli
or salad if requested. The Entrecote is our
favourite and the flavour
is beautiful. We can also recommend the Shoulder of
Lamb bruchetta and grilled Dover sole. The mixed
grill is not recommended for the English. However, if you prefer fish, Moreno’s has a large
selection of fresh fish and paella to choose from.
Morena’s is a large noisy restaurant, ideal for
families, it has the most amazing rear terrace for
alfresco dining, which is complimented by a
beautiful gated playground area for children. The
staff are very friendly and happy to assist in any
way they can.
Morena’s is a traditional noisy Spanish Restaurant,
it will not appeal to everybody, but if you fancy a
lovely atmosphere and a safe place for the children
– this is the restaurant for you , still our
favourite. On the Coin Road Mijas Golf, no need for
reservations |

DA BRUNO’S – CABOPINO
This is one of our all time favourite restaurants. I
love the ambience and everything about the setting
of the wonderful restaurant. The Italian based menu
is extensive and it never fails to amaze me how they
produce so many meals at top a quality standard. Da
Brunos is set in it’s own landscaped garden with
fish ponds and children's play area. This is
definitely a must for a special night out, and an
opportunity to dress for dinner. If you have
children you can relax knowing they are perfectly
safe and catered for.
Da Bruno’s is quite expensive, but well worth the
money when you take into consideration the setting
and excellent service offered. The meals range from
Lobster Spaghetti, Risotto, Calves Liver and Fillet
steak cooked in Blue cheese sauce.
Reservations are a must:
Telephone : 952 83 02 42*****Situated: Cabopino exit

EL BOMBOS
If you want to experience a little bit of the real
Spain then come here. This is a real Spanish beach
bar situated right on the beach with a very casual
atmosphere, but good quality food! We can recommend
the Paella, Rosada, Chicken Kebabs, Assorted Grilled
Fish, Garlic Clams, and the Pil Pil prawns. The
prices are very reasonable and the quality of the
food produced here is unbeatable.
Just relax and enjoy a glass of sangria and look out
to sea, it does not get any more relaxing than this.
The restaurant is rustic and very basic, in fact it
has not changed one bit since our first visit 8
years ago. The service is very slow, so be sure to
order Drinks immediately. Well worth the wait! Star
Rating **** Take 2nd exit after La Cala, heading
towards Marbella, just past Car Showroom on right,
very sharp turn, and road bends sharply as you pull
off. Cross over to the beach side of road, and
driver straight down to beach until you cannot go
any further. Turn right and drive over a small river
its the first restaurant on the right. |

PACO - TERE. * * *
A local Spanish restaurant situated on the corner by
the roundabout just opposite the far entrance to the
port opposite the carousel. Paco and Tere have been
here for years and they are always very busy. When
we first came to Spain this was one of the first local restaurants we discovered
with our friends Hazel and Ian. It is by far the best value for money restaurant
in Fuengirola Port.
The quality of food is amazing considering the size
of the kitchen. Paco the owner serves the tables himself,
whilst his wife Tere is in the kitchen creating
wonderful fresh food. The food
is traditional Spanish fish dishes and they are very
accommodating and will cook whatever you want if you
ask. They also have a small selection of meat dishes
for those that do not like fish. Winter lunch only,
Summer open all day. |

EL OCEANO
On the N340 at Km. 199, the El Oceano has a
superb location overlooking the mediterranean. This
is the best setting for Sunday lunch on the coast.
The price is around 25 euros for two courses, which
includes live music and a table over looking the
sea. After lunch the singer moves to the pool area
where dancing continues until sunset by the pool.
You can even take a swim and enjoy a drink at the
swim up bar.
They also offer a full a la carte menu every
evening. This is not the cheapest restaurant, expect to pay between 60 - 75 euros
per person for a 3 course meal with wine, but
one of the very best.
This is one of the few places adults can go and
enjoy a nice day or evening out without being
bothered by children as they are not permitted.
The hotel and restaurant are family run and most
nights you will find them eating there which is a
testament to the food.
Their fillet steaks are very tender and the menu has
dishes like lobster thermidor.
Coupled with live entertainment every night of the
week you are guaranteed a wonderful night out! Tel:

EL PONCHOS
This restaurant is fantastic for those who are great
meat eaters! If steak is what you want then this
definitely is the the place to go! They only serve
the best Argentinean beef which is considered the
best in the world. The steaks come in various sizes,
but I have to say the normal size sirloin
(entrecote) is big enough for most people.
We discovered El Poncho’s with our friends Jan and
Sean. We ordered Steak of some kind and all were
cooked to perfection and the side orders of grilled
Mushrooms and caramelised onions just added to the
flavour. The portions are huge, so no need for
starters. Needless to say El Poncho got the thumbs
up from us. Prices are around 25 euros per head, but
well worth the money and very memorable. All meals
are served with freshly baked rolls and garlic
butter.
Located in the centre of Fuengirola opposite the
Bowling Alley ( which is now closed) Reservations
are advised. When we arrived around 8.30 there was
one table available. Located in Calle Martinez
Cartena. Telephone: 952 470 695 |

VILLA TROPICANA
This is our favourite beach restaurant, we
discovered it whilst cruising past on the boat, it
is not easily seen from the road, therefore you have
to look out for it very carefully,
Juan the owner recently demolished the shack that
was originally here and replaced it with an amazing
rustic restaurant and beach bar to the side. The
food is amazing specialising in Fish in Salt,
Grilled Turbot, Sea bass, Salmon, Shoulder of Lamb,
sucking pork, Entrecote, various meats from the BBQ
and Paella.
Tropicana has a vast wine list from basic house to
the most expensive wines available. The starters and
desserts are to die for, so why not give it a try,
The restaurant is set on the beach and you can watch
the sunset over the sea whilst dining, it is a truly
amazing experience not to be missed. During the day
they offer a snack bar and hammock service.
Telephone: 952 465 320 Direction: A7 towards
Marbella, take the 1st exit past Club la Costa exit.
Park at the bottom of the slip road and walk through
the tunnel to the beach. |

VENTA LOS MARENOS - ALHAURIN
The restaurant to Los Marenos , is located inland on
the road to Alhaurin and Coin at the roundabout
section next to the BP Garage. The drive up during
the day, is pleasant and enjoyable, going home in
the dark is much less desired. Therefore choose this
restaurant for a nice lunch.
This restaurant is very popular on Sundays as they
cook everything outdoors on a huge open air BBQ.
Visited by the Spanish, this restaurant is noisy,
cheap and produces good food. I especially like the
Chuletas de cordero y pimientos fritas.
It is recommended you arrive before 2.00pm. If you
arrive after this, be prepared for a short wait but,
you will get a table. Once seated, you will need to
wave to get yourself noticed. Once the waiter has
acknowledged you it will be plain sailing. |

EL CORTIJO – BEHIND THE ARTOLA HOTEL * * * *
We were introduced to this fantastic restaurant
by our friends Nigel and Jackie, The food just
doesn't get any better with an open air barbecue in
the summer, rib eye, fillet steaks, lamb cutlets,
chicken, pork etc, you name it they got it, all
meals served with an option of jacket, thin or fat
steak chips or pan fried potatoes with onions or
salads and vegetables, They have a lovely alfresco
dining area in the garden for summer and a lovely
dinning room with open fire for winter. This
restaurant is very popular and the prices are really
reasonable, booking is a must, A little hard to find
but well worth it
The Hotel Artola is roughly situated on Kilometre
194, on the A7 -340 you will need to come off at the
LAS CHAPPAS, exit, then take the exit back to MALAGA
but before going back on the motorway you bear right
(be careful as traffic comes in from your left at
the junction, and the restaurant is situated on the

RESTAURANT SANTIAGO
Restaurant Santiago – Don’t be put off by the large
wooden front door that is always closed ... knock to
be let in! Santiagos is a superb international
restaurant with exciting specials. Set in sumptuous
Moroccan surroundings Santiagos has a good
atmosphere and warm feel about it. The staff are
very helpful and friendly and always available to
suggest dishes from the menu.
They often do themed nights, this week they are
doing a curry evening, which our friends are all
eager to try. The home-made banoffi pie is not to be
missed. Reservations are advised as you would not
like to arrive and be turned away. Located in
Alhaurin el Grande ... as you enter the town from
Fuengirola/Mijas you will come to a junction with a
Tobacconist on the corner (there is also a sign
directing you to Santiago's). Go straight on at this
junction, Santiago's is approx. 300 metres on your
left.

BAROLOS RESTAURANTE – FUENGIROLA
We were taken to this restaurant by our very good
friends Ruth and Rob. They discovered it by accident
the week before. The first thing I noticed was how
busy the restaurant was and how friendly and helpful
the staff were even under pressure. Vic chose the
brushetta and I had the pate with caramelised onions
to start, which was recommended by Rob. We both had
the linguine with strips of steak and peppers cooked
in a mushroom and brandy cream sauce. It was
absolutely yummy as was everything we had.
The prices are very reasonable, which always helps.
If you have children they offer a good children’s
menu and selection of pizzas at only 4.95 euros
each.
Barolos is situated on the Paseo Martimo. Ed Paraiso
No.38 behind the carousel. Telephone: 952 198 070 |

EL TOMAQUET – MYRAMAR
Very casual bar with great Spanish atmosphere, the
best selection Tapas on the coast and is always
busy. Have a drink at the bar and wait for a table
if busy! You will not be disappointed.

spicy sauce. Pinchito de cordero – local lamb kebab
– spicy! Rack of Ribs – lovely! Pinchito de gambas y
bacon – Prawn and bacon kebab – yum yum Mexicon
bomibito’s – spicy ball containing mince and mash
potato very much like an inside out shepherds pie –
very tasty – Chicken Wings - Hamburguesa Piquena –
minature hamburgers topped with cheese, bacon and a

everyone Very cheap!

EL TOMAQUET –FUENGIROLA
This is the same as El Tomaquet in Myramar but it is
based in the heart of Fuengirola Town Centre down a
side street. The restaurant is huge inside and also
has a garden area at the back. The menu is the same
as the other restaurant, but they do have a few
special dishes everyday. This one is a proper
restaurant and I prefer to have that atmosphere
rather than that of a working café. I also prefer
this one because you can generally get a table
within a minute of two.
This is a lovely place to have lunch in the winter,
especially if you have been shopping in Fuengirola.,
it is very warm, cosy and friendly. For some reason
this Tomaquet has specials on the menu which the
other doesn't have.
You cannot leave the area without trying a
traditional Tapas, it's a great way of discovering
typical Spanish specialities.
Directions:- Head down to Constitution
Square. The restaurant is situated in the side
street behind the Post Office (Correos) |

TIPI TAPA –MYRAMAR
This Tapas Bar is a little bit more up market than
the others. 1st Class service and a smaller menu,
everything is lovely except for the pinchito de
gambas (I do not no why but it is awful). The dates
wrapped in bacon are the best I have ever had! A
little more expensive than Tomaquet, but this is
more like a restaurant than a Café. The menu is far
less extensive than Tomaquet but lovely food all the
same.
Directions:- Follow directions for Myramar
Shopping centre. Turn left at roundabout instead of
entering shopping centre. This takes you under A7
Continue straight ahead to next roundabout, turn
left. At next roundabout (It’s a funny shape) turn
left again,TIPI TAPA is up here on the right. If you
go too far you will hit the Bull Ring Roundabout.
Just turn around and it will then be on the left. |

JF DESIREE II
I have yet to see this
restaurant empty, it took three attempts to get a
table. This restaurant is amazing value for money !
The food is brilliant.....plus the portions
are huge!
The best way to tackle the menu is to order one dish
at a time. House wine is around 5.80 euros and most
dishes are around 6.80 euros, but will be
ample for up to 4 people.
Combinados are meals, so stay away from them.
Everything comes up fast, so pace yourself and only
order one thing at a time. If you order a mixed
grill the price is 21.00 euros, this will feed 6. The same goes for the mixed fish platter
19.00 euros.
The first time we ordered miles too much! We were
defeated before we started. My daughter aged 12
ordered a portion of chicken wings, when the plate
arrived we could not believe our eyes, there must
have been 25 pieces of chicken on a bed of chips and
fried green peppers!
You can eat well here for around 16.00 euros a
couple including a bottles of house wine. The
restaurant is very buzzy and very Spanish.
Situated on the Los Campanales road (Garage
Victoria)from the A7. Just opposite Mercadona |

EL GOLF * * * *
For some reason it has taken us nearly 6 years
to try this restaurant. Considering it is a local
restaurant that we pass every day I cannot
understand why we didn't try it before. We would
like to thank Tony and Richard for introducing us to
El Golf.
This restaurant is situated on the Golf Course over
looking the famous Los Olivos Golf Course.. They
serve a good selection of quality food like Chuletas
de Cordero and Turbot which is excellent. El Golf is
very popular with holiday makers, golfers and
locals. They offer both inside and al fresco
seating, all with good views of the Los Lagos golf
course. During the day El Golf offer a 9 euro menu
which is excellent value offering dishes such as
fresh rosada, fillet of beef and pork curry.
Directions:- Turn left out of Main Gates and
take the next exit on the left, only a few yards
away. The restaurant is on the left. |

RESTAURANTE BOTAVARA PLAYA * * * * *
This restaurant is recommended by the late Raymond
Poole it was one of his favourite lunch spots and it
has now become one of mine. The restaurant is situated at the far end of the Fuengirola Paseo heading towards the Myramar on the
beach side. The location is exactly where the road
bends to head into the Myramar area.
This has to be one of the Best Fish restaurants in the
Costa Del Sol area. Botavara is situated bang on the beach, They
cook fresh sardines and fish on the beach every day.
The restaurant is always busy with locals and
tourists. They do the best bocarones ala limon, and
the paella is to die for. Everything on the menu is
good value for money and clearly priced. Beware!
Anything sold by the gram ie: Salt fish or cigalas
(Scampi) Obtain the price first as these can be
quite costly. We like this restaurant so much we
hold our annual fishing competition dinner there
every year. Booking advisable on Sundays 952 119 269
Closes evenings during winter months. |

MIRA INDIA – INDIAN CUISINE *****
The trouble with Indian in the Costa Del Sol is
they nearly always disappoint you! It is truly hard
to find one you would wish to return to, this was a
fact until we discovered the Mira Indian
Same Quality as an English Indian – All Cooked Fresh
to Order. This restaurant is run by a family from
East London and they have tried to recreate the
taste we English have come to expect. Until recently
the only place to obtain a good Indian Meal was the
UK. Try the Chilli Paneer starter, it's wonderful.
The staff are very humble and make you feel
extremely welcome. All the food is prepared freshly
so be patient, we would like to thank Ian Warner for
the experience.
Directions: Fuengirola Sea Front, it is on
the far end of the Paseo Heading away from the Port
End towards the Mosque. Keeping the sea to your left
you will find it on the right hand side if you hit
the end of the Paseo where the road bends to the
right, you have gone too far! Turn around and it
will be on the left a short way up from there. |

|
THE WOK! *****
This is truly an experience not to be missed!
Excellent food at a reasonable price!
This restaurant has a unique concept! You can
actually choose your own ingredients from fresh
bowls and go up to the wok or Plancha and they will
cook it freshly in front of you in minutes. There
are 6 different flavours to choose from, which are
all truly amazing.
The best part is you can eat as much as you want,
and keep going back up for more. This is great if
you have a good appetite as the price is a fixed at
12.95 euros per head. Please believe me it is very
good value once you see what you are getting. A word
of warning! When you enter there is a buffet of
normal Chinese, do not make the mistake of filling
yourself on these things, because the best food is
cooked in the woks!
Directions: Exit at the mains gates and turn left.
Follow road to the very end and at the round a bout
take the immediate right hand exit. Carry straight
on past Dunne's Stores over a small roundabout, The
Wok is on the righthand side. |

EL SULTAN – MOROCCAN.
If you fancy something different then this is
the place to try.
This restaurant has created a fantastic traditional
Moroccan atmosphere and has been decorated to make
you feel you are actually in Morocco. The staff and
very attentive and friendly and happy to advise on
the Menu on offer. The food is amazing, albeit
mostly lamb dishes or vegetables. Everything comes
with couscous and sauces of many flavours. They have
an amazing selection of kebabs in all sorts of
variations. This restaurant is a must, if you like
spicy food. Prices are middle of the road and they
have a fair selection of wine including Moroccan
Directions: Turn right at main gates. Head to the
Myrmar Park shopping centre. Turn left under the
A7. Go past the KIA Agent at the roundabout *Looks
like an orange peeling turn right. You will have to
come back on your self and take 1st right. Go past
Crazy golf and the road bears round to right heading
for seafront. El Sultan is on right before the
Seafront. |
