Mijas Golf – Walking Distance from Puebla aida
The Mijas Golf Club is situated on the Costa del Sol
/ Costa del Golf in the town of Fuengirola, very
close to Marbella. The complex has two 18-hole
courses with different characteristics which are
suitable for players of all levels; Los Lagos (“The
Lakes”) and Los Olivos (“The Olive Trees”).
LOS LAGOS
At 6,367 meters, this is the longest of the two
courses which go to make up Mijas Golf. Designed by
Robert Trent Jones Sr., Los Lagos is a course with
wide fairways and few tree hazards, but which is
complicated by sand traps and the 9 lakes after
which it is named, so you need to be very aware of
these when hitting the ball. It is a relatively even
course with large, flat greens. It appears that the
legendary designer wanted to create a course that
was suitable for amateurs but, at the same time, he
has also managed to present them with a challenge.
Los Lagos is a suitable course for big hitters, but
it also demands great concentration on the part of
the player as well as short shots. |

LOS
OLIVOS
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. What makes
Los Olivos different from Los Lagos, apart from the
abundance of olive trees which give it its name, is
that it is shorter, with fewer water hazards, and
the greens are smaller, more undulating and with
slopes. As both courses were designed by the same
person, it is clear that he was aiming to create an
interesting contrast between the two: if Los Lagos
is based on sand and water hazards, the main
difficulties on Los Olivos are the narrower
fairways, the trees which flank them, and the raised
greens.

- 6007 White Tees - 6367
Los Olivios Holes - 18 Red Tees - 4969 Yellow Tees -

Alhaurin Golf and Hotel Resort
Situated in the heart of the Costa del Golf, at the foot of the Mijas
mountains, in the municipality of Alhaurin El Grande from which the
course takes its name. Designed by Severiano Ballesteros, the course
fits the terrain like a glove and respects the natural lie of the land,
so its is a very uneven course. The fairways are long and narrow which
means you will need to hit an accurate drive if you don’t want to end up
in the water hazards or the numerous bunkers and bushes. Although, the
level of difficulty of the course can be adapted to all levels because
of the versatile nature of the tees which offer up to 6 tee-off
positions. As well as the 18-hole round designed by Severiano
Ballesteros, the course has another two rounds, one consisting of 18
par-3 holes and another consisting of 9 short holes.

Aloha Golf
The Aloha golf club is situated in Marbella, right in the heart of the
Costa del Golf, and just a few minutes from Puerto Banús. Aloha Golf is
an entertaining course which requires accuracy and hard-hitting. The
holes are not excessively long except for the 1st, the 4th, the 13th and
the 18th. It is a narrow course with plenty of hazards and trees which
are strategically placed. The rough also complicates matters and some of
the greens have an uneven surface that are a challenge even for more
skilful players. Members have priority when it comes to playing on the
course and non-members can play at the invitation of a member. In the
peak season, November and April, it is difficult to get a game. The
atmosphere of the club is excellent and has achieved a perfect balance
between a cosmopolitan air and the warm welcome which all golfers enjoy.

Lauro Golf
The club is situated in the town of Alharín de la Torre, in Malaga and
is a rather unusual course in that each of its holes is named after a
famous bullfighter. It is an inland course but it is located in a
beautiful setting 300 meters above sea level, so it has great views and
a mild climate. The layout of the round respects the natural topography
of the terrain and is not without its difficulties, so you will really
need to concentrate if you want to get round in good order, especially
on the 9th and 18th where the greens are bordered by water hazards and
it is easy to lose the ball. In short, it is a course which is only
really suitable for good players and you are guaranteed an unforgettable
day’s golfing.

Santa Maria
The golf course is located in a setting of incomparable natural beauty
in the mountains of Andalusia. It runs through two valleys, with great
views of the Mediterranean, in one of the most densely wooded areas of
the municipality. The course winds through the valley and climbs up the
side of the mountain before crossing the motorway in a northerly
direction. The first nine holes were designed by Antonio García Garrido.
The hole on the 7th, a par-3 of 200 yards, is reached from raised tees.
The following hole, a par-5, is a dogleg to the right with water on the
right. The 14th also begins with a very high tee, flanks a lake and ends
up at on a green with a waterfall to the right. The course is surrounded
by numerous apartment buildings, but this does not detract from its
beauty, and it also has two practice courses, three putting greens and
five short holes.
